Comment tracking

One of the more difficult things about being in the blogiverse is keep track of comments. I’m always losing track, and eventually catch up to them, finding them with hundreds and thousands (well, more like tens…) of more comments.

Currently, I’m implementing a basic comment tracker, which is a bit like del.icio.us in a way, but it lets me move comments to the top of the page if I want to, and has a javascript bookmarklet to let me quickly post the page to it. It’s a lot easier than having a mass of Firefox bookmarks, and it’s dead easy to use.

At the moment, it’s a private thing, which is only half built, so obviously it’s not worth showing off. But, I was wondering, would people use this if it was either:

  • Open sourced so people could download it and put it on their own servers, or
  • A hosted solution, like del.icio.us and digg

Would you use it? If so, what type of features would you have? If not, why not?
