A Fresh New Design
Steve Tucker redesigns his site and generally it’s much, much better. Very clean, very sexy. Constructive criticism time though, Stevey, you have an accessibility statement on your site, yet all your comments and everything in your footer has a text size of 9 pixels high and it’s grey. That isn’t accessible, especially if I have to lean forward to read. And yes, I do have my glasses on.
Erskine Design
Simon Collison of CollyLogic fame (infamy?) launches his own agency with a very nice site which has a warmth and personality to it that a lot of agencies, and businesses in general, can lack. If I was a business, I would feel much more comfortable working with a warm, friendly agency like Erskine that some globalhypermegacorp who wouldn’t care about the small guy. But maybe that’s just me… I just prefer small companies!
Flame fractals
You can call me a maths geek but I love this kind of thing. The beauty in science. How mathematics can create weird and wonderful shapes that look somewhere between modern art and jellyfish. Just goes to show how closely mathematics, art and nature are linked. [from Digg]
kuler
Colour sharing isn’t something you’d instantly think would work for the social networking, but Adobe Labs releases kuler, a colour theme explorer and sharer. Yes, it is Flash, and yes, you will need Flash Player 9, but once you get over that, it works pretty well. The create theme page [click ‘Create’ in the main menu] is rather special too, works very similar to a desktop app and generates some good looking themes. Time to throw the colour theory books in the bin. [Thanks Al]
24 ways
Omg-it’s-almost-christmas! Exciting! What better way is there to countdown the days than… no, not using an advent calendar complete with bad tasting chocolate, but by reading web development tutorials! Hurrah! Seriously though, 2005’s calendar was chock-full of tidbits from the exclusive inner circle of web bloggers (you know the ones). Hopefully 2006’s will be just as good.

Yeah, I am one of those glasses wearers who wear them just for being on the computer. My eyesight is generally fine, I just wear them to make me look intelligent and a bit moody.

Maybe I should include in the accessibility statement that it only applies to those with VERY good eyesight? ;) 24ways is a pretty cool idea as well – liked that festive web design spirit!
BTW, I didnt picture you as a glasses wearer Rik; I’m half blind too
